Sending Single or Bulk Messages

A short walkthrough covering account funding, sending single or bulk messages, contact groups, personalisation and delivery tracking.

This guide explains how to fund your WebSMS account, send individual or group text messages, and manage message threads and delivery history. It's designed to help a new team member send messages correctly, track replies and use contact groups efficiently.

Confirm the send and verify delivery

  • Review the price prompt and click OK to confirm.
  • Check that the message appears as sent and verify delivery on the recipient's device if possible.

View message history and reply in the thread

  • Open the sent message to view the conversation history.
  • If the recipient replies, the response will appear in the same message thread.
  • Continue the conversation directly in the thread as needed.

Create a contact group for bulk messaging

  • Choose the option to create a new contact group.
  • Add a contact by entering the person's name and phone number.
  • Assign the contact to a new or existing group, then save the contact.

Manage contact groups

  • Use this area to review group membership.
  • From here, you can send a message to a group or delete a group if it is no longer needed.

Use short codes to personalise messages

Check message length and cost before sending

  • Messages over 160 characters may split into multiple segments.
  • Understand that longer messages cost more because each segment is billed separately.

Review sent and received messages

  • Check delivery status for each message; delivered messages should show as successful.
  • If a message fails, look for statuses such as rejected or failed.
  • Open Received Messages to view incoming replies and recent inbound texts.

Cautionary notes

  • Do not send marketing messages without an unsubscribe option.
  • Check message length carefully — messages over 160 characters may be split and cost more.
  • Verify the recipient list or group before sending to avoid sending to the wrong person or audience.
  • Confirm available credit before sending, especially for group messages.
  • Review delivery status if a message does not appear to have been received.
