  • Marketing messages – promotions must be sent from a dedicated free-to-text (FTEU) number so recipients can opt out for free. Shared shortcodes are for transactional messaging only.

Free-to-text shifts the cost of replying away from the person texting you and onto the business. It's the right fit any time you can't assume recipients will have credit, or simply shouldn't have to pay to respond to you.

How do I top up, and what verification is needed?
Top up from your account dashboard. Before your first top-up you’ll verify your mobile number, complete a quick ID check, and pay with an NZ or AU card.
What sender options are there?

Can I send international SMS?
Yes, we support international SMS delivery to over 200 countries. International destinations have per-prefix pricing that varies by country (with a $0.10 minimum). See our international SMS rates and search by country or prefix.
Are there any hidden fees?
No hidden fees whatsoever. No monthly subscription for bulk SMS, no contracts, and full API access is included at no extra charge. You only pay for the messages you send.

What is the cost per SMS?
SMS to New Zealand and Australian mobiles costs 10c + GST per message (NZD) for up to 1,499 messages a month, with lower per-message rates at higher volumes (see the table above). Templated OTP and appointment-reminder messages sent via the API are 8c + GST per part. Enterprise customers sending 100,000+ messages receive custom pricing.

Dedicated shortcode pricing depends on length: 3-digit $289/month and 4-digit $249/month (both with $400 setup), or 5-digit $95/month and 6-digit $85/month (both with $350 setup). All include your own exclusive number across all NZ carriers, keyword campaigns and multiple sending methods.
Do I need my own shortcode?
Not necessarily. We have shared shortcodes available for specific purposes, so you don't have any rental costs. However, if you're sending over 2,000–5,000 messages per month, you may benefit from registering your own dedicated shortcode. Shared shortcodes are for transactional messaging; marketing messages must be sent from a dedicated free-to-end-user (FTEU) shortcode so recipients can opt out for free.
